As someone who suffers from nagging ankleinjuries from running, I sought out Acupuncture for injury prevention and care. Thieny from Thien Lake was extremely welcoming for my initial session. She was patient with explaining the process and services offered at her practice - everything was communicated in a digestive and easy to understand matter. For someone who did not know much about Acupuncture, I felt very comfortable!The first session was relaxing, calming, and zen and provided relief to ankles. We discussed treatment plans to fit my needs. The studio is also well decorated and clean! Don’t hesitate to try!

I can’t sing Thieny’s praises highly enough. She has been the best support through my fertility journey. She was able to get my very irregular cycles regulated with treatments and herbs and has been an incredible resource throughout my pregnancy. If you are struggling with fertility, such as PCOS, this will be a great fit for you. Within the quarter of seeing Thieny we were able to conceive naturally. She prepared a unique plan for me that I followed step by step. If you take her recommendations seriously, discipline yourself, I have full faith the same can happen to you. The acupuncture is not painful and it’s safe even during pregnancy. I love all the little details of her office, for example when you walk in, you feel welcomed, if feels like a spa, clean, and you will not find a better specialist like Thieny. Not to mention she has the best healthy snacks. Don’t hesitate and make an appointment, because she is the best!

Dr. Hoang is absolutely wonderful! I had been unsuccessfully trying to heal my PCOS when a friend recommended I go see her, as she specializes in womens health. This was my first experience with acupuncture and Hr. Hoang was so welcoming and calm I was immediately relaxed in her care. Love Thieny from Thien Lake Acupuncture!! I would see Thieny 3-4x/month for bodywork and cupping in 2016-2017 back when her office was in Oakland near Lake Merritt. She was insightful, trustworthy, honest and truly listened to my concerns to address the areas that needed healing so I could get back on the mat for my next BJJ/Sambo competition. I miss her care and professionalism and would see her in a heartbeat if she was local again.

My fertility journey started in 2020 when my obgyn told me the reason I wasnt getting pregnant easily is because I had very low AMH, at the time I was already 38 years old. She recommended seeing a fertility specialist. In 2021 I began going to the fertility specialist and we decided IVF was my best option as they also found that I had endometriosis and adyomyosis. Fast forward to end of 2023, 4 egg retrievals later with only 2 viable embryos, we decided to try to transfer 1 of them. To our disappointment the transfer failed and we were heartbroken. I knew I needed more support. In February of 2024 I searched on yelp for eastern medicine doctors and I discovered Dr. Thieny Hoang. She had a very extensive question-are that I filled out and was able to meet with her for a consultation. She took the time to thoroughly listen and speak with me. I remember I started to cry because it was the first time I had ever felt heard in this way. Dr. Thieny then gave me an acupuncture treatment and she told me she would send me a treatment plan to review and to let her know if I wanted to go forward with her treatments, which included custom herbal teas, electroacupuncture, cupping, acupuncture and extensive diet recommendations made for me. I felt so good about the plan she built for me. I decided to go forward with her plan for me which was to help support and get my body ready for our precious last viable embryo transfer. During these months of treatment I made some shifts in my diet, lifestyle habits following her recommendations and I never felt better! My endometriosis pain subsided immensely, it was incredible. I felt so much more confident about approaching the next transfer, mentally and physically. In June of 2024 Dr.Thieny said I was ready. So I scheduled my embryo transfer for July, and it is now August…and Im 7 weeks pregnant!! My husband and I are so beyond happy and I know this wouldnt be possible without Dr.Thieny’s treatment and support. Not only is she so well versed in Eastern Medicine but she is also just a ray of sunshine and a beautiful soul inside and out. She makes you feel so comfortable and confident in your own body, which can be so hard when you are navigating fertility struggles. I cannot praise her enough. I recommend anyone that is having fertility hardships or womens health issues to pay her a visit. You will know after 1 visit that it the place you need to be. Thank you Dr.Thieny!!

After suffering from back spasms for a week, I decided to try acupuncture for the first time. I was recommended Dr. Hoang by a friend and gave it a shot. Naturally, I am not happy with needles but Dr. Hoang’s gentle touch made the experience seem more like a spa treatment than a scary experience. My back pain and spasms disappeared after only 2 sessions. I make it a point to keep up with my preventative maintenance by going twice monthly now. I would highly recommend her practice to anyone, new or experienced with acupuncture.

I’ve received amazing body work and acupuncture from Thien Lake and highly recommended! Esp for joint pain/menstrual migraines/chronic anemia . In addition to treatments, I received a personalized herbal regimen. Immediately post treatment i felt well rested, nourished and had significant pain relief!

I went to see Dr. Choi for my allergies. 2 treatments and my symptoms were gone! I also happened to dislocate my shoulder which she treated too. My surgeon was amazed at my quick recovery. Now I go to her for all my sports injuries and muscle issues.

Dr. Thieny is wonderful! I was experiencing a lot of inflammation and pain in my thumb and wrist from over use during work. I had gone to OT and didnt have much improvement. With in two session of acupuncture my pain is GONE! WHAT? The inflammation has subsided and Im just in disbelief. Im also seeing Dr. Thieny for hormone balancing and Im so excited to get my body in the best health it can be. If you are thinking of booking you should! Dr. Thieny is not only a master at what she does but she is also very warm and easy to talk to. I feel like she really empathizes with what Im going through.
