These people here are not anything who they claim they are. I have come here and give nothing but respect to everyone here also. This is the same community that I am supposed to feel emotionally safe / incl it hasnt been that way....The staff member Josh that works in finance sits back and laugh deliberately . I have addressed his behavior also and he keeps doing it which means he doesnt care... There are a few times when he would come out of his office petty laugh and sit and stare at me trying to cause a problem because in fact he is racist regardless of the other people of color he hangs out with. He isnt the only one neither... I also had a conversation with Bean and as of recently yesterday also. Bean keeps trying to reassure me they are going to make effort in short. Keeping in mind the conversations are deep which I am the one who starts these conversations and speak up per usual. I dont need anything from these people but to feel supported and included at the least. I want to reiterate the fact that Ive given respect to everyone here. In my very short time coming there I have noticed that staff members just sit and laugh, it also seems to me parring up in groups with subtle and passive aggressive tactics to push me out of the agency. This is unacceptable! and would could be the reason? I have also had a conversation with the manager out of respect of them being a person of color Im going to not say their name! Majority of the people that work here are in fact white they will never understand and possibly understand as Ive said and favor specific clients! It also seems to me they sit back and favour other people of color gay men and possibly trying to push me out in fact that is a strong possibility! and the few people of color whos apart of this non profit organization cant be truste I also think its unacceptable for someone to tell me that that they have not experienced racism or the things I have experienced coming from another person of color. It shocked me and is also unacceptable! trust me she/they are fully aware and also had a direct conversation with them in the past as well and yesterday as of recently! These people will never be able to bring me down. That doesnt mean I dont have feelings and emotions just like anyone else. But I want to also reinforce the fact that Im who I am and I can promise you no one else in the world is like me..... Its also possible behind my back that the community feels some type of way about me because everything I have shared is the Truth! So you know Im okay with being over there while everyone else is you know.... One thing I cant stand is bullies. Wether that be in the form of emotional tag team bullying in any type of circumstance or circle or even at a work place. I also cant stand when people cant communicate especially as adults! So dont get mad at me for speaking the truth no matter what people think about me which is no longer my problem! moving forward if anyone has a problem with me they can address me accordingly so I also want to reiterate that as well. So you know I want be coming back here to avoid myself you know... Because in fact thats exactly what they want. at some point bean , josh were talking telling me to get out in a subtle and indirect way! Get out for what ? I didnt do anything wrong so Bean, josh and multiple other staff members over the course of the LGBTQ centers history before I even came started coming here are racist as well regardless of them being LGBTQI+ and if anyone feels some type of way Im more than happy to have this conversation somewhere outside ! I dont like when people abuse their positions and power and hide behind other people of color and pretend their not racist! and I know whos racist and whos not! So they can continue to fool other people and themselves but i promise you they arent fooling me! Ive exceeded my word limit if anyone has a problem Im ready to have a conversation outside of there Im squared up and will always be ready for the good and the badTake good care

I had the best experience at Gay City. Charlie, Kathleen and the team were friendly, welcoming, and exceptional. The whole team helped me obtain the care I needed with urgency. I highly recommend it to anyone and I will definitely be back. Thank you!

Its been 4 weeks since Ive had testing done and still no results. Called after 2 weeks and was given some lame excuse due to pride & laboratory backup. Called again a week later and no answer, no followup after leaving a message. Absolutely not okay at all to make people wait this long for something so important. Go elsewhere if you can!

Its a wonderful place for any services youre there for. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about what they do. You definitely feel welcomed in this space and I would recommend everyone to choose this center for their testing needs and other community services! And would also encourage those who receive their free service to leave a donation if possible, as STI/HIV testing is free of charge and completely confidential :)

I have never been met with so much hostility and rudeness. I was going in to ask for information and asked to use the restroom since I have many health issues and one of the people at the front desk pointed us kindly to the restroom while the other one said absolutely no public restroom and turned us away from any aid or help. Made it a very horrible experience in wanting to learn more and find aid resources needed as an LGBTQ+ person.

Terrible service. I made an appointment online for testing. When I arrived at the testing location at Steam Works Baths, a staff member said my name wasnt given to them so I would have to pay for entry. I have absolutely no intention to use their services. I just wanted to get tested and I did not want anything else. It seems like a HIPAA violation to give my name to some staff member at a gay bath/sex place. The testing person should be there to greet you. This situation seems like a setup to get you to buy services. All in all, I would not recommend Gay City. It is better to go somewhere official and professional.

We visited the center while we were in town. The staff was wonderful and provided a very informed tour of the facility. The services they provide are amazing. While we visited there were several individuals participating proudly in current projects. It was heartwarning to see these kids feeling happy in a safe environment and creating their art.

Will not return for the trauma they caused me. They do not care about you. I’ve had no follow up from a single staff member from this clinic about what I had to go through with them.

Review updated 2/15/22; Gay City is a great, Seattle based, LGBTQ friendly establishment. I previously visited Gay City and had a less than ideal experience, however the staff were wonderful about following up and acknowledging my concerns. Happy to support a fantastic organization such as this that does such great work for the Seattle LGBTQ community

My testing experience at Gay City was entirely problem free. My tester, Luis, was extremely pleasant, easy, knowledgeable, and comforting. I had never been tested before this visit and I was afraid that I would be chastised for that, but Luis didn’t show the slightest amount of judgment. Rather, he was gracious and encouraging and thanked me for coming in. He clearly understood that I was nervous, as I imagine most are their first time, and took the time to clearly and throughly explain exactly what he was doing step by step without my even having asked him. I’ve never been more comfortable in a medical situation in my life and I am very grateful to have had my first HIV/STI testing here with Luis. Plus, I had a great time browsing the LGBTQ library in the front lobby once I was done with testing!! Definitely would recommend a visit to Gay City whether you’re looking to get tested, browse some queer books, or just be in a place where you can sense your community’s presence. Thank you!

An organization that provides much need free STI/HIV testing to men? It does exist. All the volunteers I have come across are very friendly and trained well in discretion and privacy of the client.

I have had the best experience at Gay City, mainly because Alyssa was such an awesome person. She is caring and respects everyone, no matter what your gender, ethnicity, etc. She bends over backwards in making my volunteer experience a positive one!

No hangups whatsoever. Came in for a routine HIV and STI screen and came back a month later to get on PrEP. The process was simple and straightforward.

I was threatened and bullied by the staff. This is a clique of horrible people collecting paychecks at the expense of the gay community in Seattle. The response below is disingenuous, it was made a full year after my review. It is there to lend cover for awful behavior.

Warning - the Gay City appointment system is horrible. I made an appointment for 6pm, got a text reminder that my appointment was at 6pm, when I showed up at 5:55pm was told I have to reschedule because I wasnt there 15 minutes before my appointment time.
