Out of the Closet - Long Beach

Really nice thrift store, the store itself is cleaned and organized. Some items have that weird film from being in storage, but for the most part not to bad. They do have store rebate for electronic items, that is cool. There were an odd amount of breadmakers, I ended up getting a yogurt maker, so hopefully joy.

Such a cute store I went in today. LOVE the workers. And Steve, you are amazing and so friendly 🥰🙏🏽 Definitely will be going more often.

Staff were very friendly and welcoming. First visit ever. One staff made me feel comfortable by providing tips for thrifting, another was informative about the core values if the organization and me signing up for the optional marketing/points system using a phone number, and the donation person in the back was helpful by walking my friend back to the front of the store when she felt uncomfortable walking alone. Also, good merchandise overall and at fair prices. Will be coming back again based on this experience.

Has reasonable pricings and cute stuff overall! the staff there are all chill and friendly. Definitely check it out! but lowk #gatekeep

I have to say this because is the truth. This shop is like none other. The employees are friendly, they talk to everyone and they like to make you feel appreciated. The merchandise is tops and the prices , spectacular! They have sales every day. You can get 2 huge plastic bags full of brand, semi used and new clothes for less then 50.00.So if you are in town visiting or on vacation, stop by and see it for your self.Compare to other thrift shops in the surrounding areas OUT OF THE CLOSET TAKES THE GRAMMY.....

I love out of the closet and have been shopping there for at least 15 years. Theres always an excellent selection and they have great deals!Update: March 2022 check out the cute light blue Coach purse I got there...perfect spring bag 🤩November 2022 update: theyve remodeled/rearranged a bit...nice, and theyve expanded household items, but shrunk the clothing section...still in my top 10 😘

My past experiences have only been positive. I recommend checking this place out here in Long Beach! The AHF pharmacy, Out of the Closet thrifting, and AIDS testing/community outreach makes for something great and allows others to test this model.

Clean and large assortment of furniture and knickknacks. Not much for mens clothing. I bring my donations here so thought I should stop by to see the merch.

My first time coming here last week, i came to get tested for my sexual health... very friendly staff and i will be coming back here if anything ☺️🏳️‍🌈

Beautifully decorated windows, clean store with an IMPRESSIVE collection of man and woman clothing, vinyls, CDs, DVDs, costumes, jewelry, other accessories, and even a PHARMACY opened every weekday!I HIGHLY recommend!!!!!

The Long Beach location pulled a bad move. I found a $5 bracelet that they put out today 12/3 that was a carved bone bracelet with elephants. I gave it to the cash register person to hold, he liked it stating he would buy it and started showing other employees the bracelet. Later that employees comes to me and says they are not going to sell it because they say its ivory....its not. I spoke with the managers who stated they needed to tested it, I asked them to test it then she said she didnt have the equipment. I then asked them how did they know it ivory. She stated she didnt know. I told them that was a bad move....I deal in Antiques its not even a old piece and definitely not ivory, just a nice carved piece of bone. I feel had the cashier register guy not blab and show it to other employees I would of gotten a piece that DID have some Silver. Terrible customer servic. Caution when dealing with the LB location. Why put something out if you dont have the equipment to test it. Are you going to call me after you test it..you can find me at Andees Vintage and Antiques in Bellflower, CA. Let see if they make this right.

There was a lot of unique dishes and outfits to choose from, as well as a good variety of books. I would come back to explore the shop again. Also, loved that they provide HIV testing onsite.

SO......Your email says youll be notified the night before your donation pickup confirming a time for your pickup..... dont believe that. I wasnt notified at all. I had to call them and leave a message and they didnt call me back until the morning of... also, dont plan on them actually taking all your donations when you schedule a pickup. Even if their site specifically says they do accept the thing youre donating..... if you have a lazy driver like I did who simply doesnt want to have to lift anything (a dresser in perfect condition....which the site clearly says they accept!) youll be left at the last minute before your move trying to find another place to donate to anyway. They did me wrong like this today. SOOOOO WRONG!! And on a holiday weekend to boot! Really not a good experience. I was trying NOT to donate to Goodwill as I wanted to donate my belongings to a more worthy cause which I certainly think Out of the Closet is, but their donations process is extremely discombobulated and very stressful. I am incredibly disappointed.

The people working here are so friendly and the store is clean and I found some really good stuff! Theres a parking lot out back and a good amount of everything to look at

Came here for FREE HIV testing. Could not be faster and more convenient service. Amazing . Thank you for providing testing and other services here. Will come back for a full panel MW or Friday. Much faster than planned parenthood!!

Staff was super friendly! I’ve been coming here for two years and they have really grown in that time. They always have good things for cheap.

I dropped off a truckload of boxes containing crystal and fine china including delftware after a less-than-pleasant experience with another place.The people accepting donations assisted in emptying the truck, thanked us, and offered a receipt which I politely declined.They were unable to take the stained glass windows that I had brought as well, but did offer suggestions as to where they would be taken.From now on, ALL my donations will go there. It is a very worthy charity.

Great prices and amazing vintage items. Best t shirt selection, great prices on vintage costume jewelry, and upstairs, the best book selection at prices that are practically free! But if you see something you want, get it that day! Three times I saw furniture I wanted, went back next day, gone!

Love this place! Clean, organized, and if you cant find something you have in mind, ask the super helpful staff- they may magically conjure something out of thin air :) I had a blast here, got a groovy outfit for a super price, and have my eye on something Im going to come back for... The fact that proceeds are for good causes make this place even better . Will be back soon!

Got my new syringes here and they even had the long ones that I like dog. this place has helped me get over my HIV problems that I have. Thanks for making me feel better about having HIV and help me find out that I had HIV so I wont spread it to everyone. And also I can get new needles here to shoot dope and its cool because I dont have any more absences from using dirty needles because I can get new ones from out of the closet perfect place to learn you have HIV 2

Just by the spank-me pink paint and bedazzled window dressing - I knew this was the place to be. All for great cause. Take 10 minutes and get free testing. Theres swag to be had. Has turned into one-stop shop of testing/pharmacy/counseling and great place to shop. Chuck the Book Guy upstairs passed last year, but there are now other great folks.

We go here all the time and have found some great items. We also donate (a lot) so some of those items used to be ours. Prices can be a bit high but you have to remember where that money is needed. I wish the mens clothing section was bigger, but thats a consequence of the relatively small space. Weve bought furniture including nice solid wood nightstands for $20 each recently. As with all thrift stores, you just have to look.

I was impressed by their Halloween section, they turned a whole section of the store into a costume store, even selling new wigs hats, gloves, stockings and other accessories. And my, the coolest selection of costume ideas! Found a drag queen outfit that was easily repurposed into a sexy outer space themed costume. Friendly and helpful girl working in that section when I visited.Also I was impressed by their selection of formal and semi formal womens gowns, including some amazing bridal gowns!

Good place with good deals but not all the time. Sometimes I find something but their prices are not of a thrift store. Halloween wigs $15.99 to $19.99. I went to Spirit Halloween store for the same price. Saw great costumes but prices as new costumes. They have dressing rooms so I like that. No one greets us each time we go. They are more nicer in Santamonica.

Very inconsiderate with peoples time. Have been needing to get things done here for a few weeks now. I can only go after work in the evening and for the last few weeks they have been closing early without notifying, whomevers working last leaves early, making people waste money if they have to uber/lyft. Now I get turned away trying to go there while on lunch break in the LATE afternoon and they are just barely going to lunch. Do not go here if you work during the day and need to get things done, they dont seem to take into consideration other peoples time or money

I love this place the staff is very friendly and helpful. There is also a big variety of clothing furniture and many more miscellaneous. But the best part is that it’s for a wonderful cause. I also happy i can always take my donations there. Go see for yourself you’ll be glad you went 😊

Easiest place to take donations! You can drop off things in their parking lot any time they’re open. They do only like nice stuff (i.e. they won’t take bad quality furniture), but they will always offer a receipt.Plus the thrift store has good quality stuff, and everything supports programs like free HIV/std testing.

The place was nice , i needed to buy a suitcase really fast b/c im going out of town and they were dirt cheap and good quality they were about $10-15 it beats paying 60 for a brand new one .. super happy :)Update : I still had the suitcase 10 years later 😂 I finally let it go it’s been around the world with me .

Great Customer service

WOW, this has really been cleaned up since my last visit. Selection is smaller but it almost seems curated now. Plenty of parking in the back and there are even restrooms now.

The first time I’ve been there back in January for testing the whole staff was very nice and welcoming but today the guy at the front desk was very rude and unprofessional over the phone and sounded like he did not want to work or be there! Smh 🤦‍♂️ Other than that fantastic place for testing and good quality thrifting that’s why I give them 5 🌟s

Awesome place to buy clothes very different styles than you would normally find at any other thrift stores (Goodwill, salvation army etc) reasons why should be obvious and each out of the closet has its own chill vibe to it. Highly recommend to visit any of these stores if youre in the area! Staff is cool af!

Nice and clean store a bit over priced for some items. Employees were very unfriendly. When i go into a store any store i liked to be greeted and asked if there anything i need help with so on. Didnt get any of thst much less a thank you for my purchase.

Free testing for all - discreet and very polite staff! When it doubt, test it out! Let’s work together to overcome the stigma of STD testing! It’s safer to know than to assume!!! We got this!!!

Absolutely love this place. Great selection of clothing, and usually they have a sale on certain selection of items(30, 50, or half off price). The workers here are very friendly and lovely.

They do have good stuff and pretty good deals but they know what they have and they value it accordingly so if you expect thrift store prices you will be disappointed. You can find things there but most of their stuff is priced too high in my opinion compared to other thrift stores.

Great staff, quality items, prices are fair. I dont know why people say otherwise Ive visited a handful of times for 6 years and have always found awesome deals.

Cute spot. They have a lot of items for the home, as well as clothes. The only down side for me was that there werent many articles of clothing in my size. I wear a xs or small. However, I did find two small dresses.

Great place for any vintage clothing, decorations, home accessories. Also, they offer HIV testing free of charge. Friendly, quirky and you never know what youll find.

Ive just been coming to this Thrift Store for a few months and it has to be one of my favorite Thift Stores because their employees are the best and one day I was short and was embarrassed but the cashier said dont worry about it bring it in next time your here.Goodwill would never do something like that.Also I love their weekly specials.I had a freind who was homeless and she went in their one day and asked if she could have a top and a pair of pants and they helped her out .Their score brownie points with me for that one.Also you their prices are great not like Goodwill who has gotten so high recently I think they got their name mixed up with Nordstrom.Its terrible how they have raised their prices so high I guess the CEOs needed a raise.Anyway just wanted to praise this store for their prices,and especially their employees.Thank you Laura Maeser

This thrift store is great in so many ways. I went to donate today as I truly appreciate the fact that the money raised here goes to funding the AHF nonprofit pharmacy located onsite.

Great little thrift with some great finds and good prices! kept Clean and organized as well. Just found a pair of shorts with original tags priced at $42.00 for $6.00

Very fine mens clothing. Going out at night clubbing type. Free prophylactics. Medical testing done here. A variety of items from books to furniture sold here. Excellent prices, helpful staff.

Nice Thrift store. Clean & well organized. Friendly & helpful staff. They have constant clothing sales that rotate throughout the inventory weekly, so there are opportunities for really good deals.

I have found 3 pairs of jeans on my two visits from Seattle. For $7 a piece. Theres some type of magic here 🧙

Back in the day this place was great now they overprice like crazy !!! the workers in the back need to work out a percentage on the items or something . If I wanted the collectible I’ll just buy it from eBay if that’s the case

Its a great place, well organized and clean. Theres an HIV drugstore inside this and they also conduct free HIV testing.

Prices were pretty good. Found some cheap mason jars there. Youll never know what you might find.

They have a big variety of things. Clothes, furniture, all sorts of neat knic knacs, and many other things. They even have their own pharmacy.

Always find some great quality or brand items for a fraction of the retail price. I found a pair of $80 shorts with the tag still on and it was only $8.50

I had never been in that store, they have very good things. I put on my devices and I wanted to go out through the back because it said exit. A fat employee with black hair glasses tells me thats not a way out and asks me, have you paid yet? I say yes-- I say ok and I went to the main door and she followed me from behind and asked the cashier.I already paid!!! And I turn around and tell her of course yes I told her do you want to see my ticket and I showed it to her and I told her I will never come back again yes in English and she tells me in a ___ please tone!!! How rudeLatina because she was speaking Spanish and from her face there is no doubt that the worst with racism is another Latino who wanted to return for other devices that I use in my business but of course I wont return!!😆
